Shirley and I took a drive to Copperopolis today; we yearned for a fine drive through the live oaks and rolling grasslands that make up the country east of Modesto. Oh yeah, we also looked forward to lunch at Griff's BBQ and Grill in the Copperopolis Town Square. I have lived, worked, and traveled throughout the deep South and Texas; in other words, I have had my share of original BBQ. As far as barbeque in California goes, Griff's has been a wonderful find, especially up here in the Great Central Valley so close to the Sierra. They have delicious smoked chicken, BBQ pork and beef ribs, and brisket that melts in your mouth. In addition, you will find a large selection of specialty sandwiches, sides, and salads that take no prisoners when paired with the menu specialties. Throw in a friendly and attentive group of servers waiting on the tables and one finds it hard to believe that this experience is available in Copperopolis, here in the shadow of the mountains. You won't be disappointed.
